"Great all-rounder"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The cars ABS doesn’t seem right. It kicks in too early and at completely pointless moments.

The brakes shudder when braking gently and I’ve already picked up my first puncture after only 6000 miles. I’ll put that down too bad luck be I did drive it 14 miles stone flat and no damage was cause to my alloy.

There is a rattle coming from the passengers seat belt holder. Apart from the above the car is fantastic!

General comments?

My polo is remapped to give the car a boost of around 45bhp making it very rapid.

The polo has a combination of everything. Superb fuel economy (avg. 61mpg on motorway). Great acceleration. 0-62 in 8.2s as apposed to 10.7s. Great top speed. 131mph compared to 117mph.

It handles the road very well, but traction control would be beneficiary. It’s also very comfortable to sit and sleep in.

It’s well priced and well built and great fun to drive.

Your car does not have traction control because it wasn't designed to be that fast. Whilst I can appreciate why people might wish to have their cars altered in this way, I have to admit it is not something that I would consider myself. (well not on its own) The reason for this? Well that car has had millions of pounds spent on its design by many people far more qualified than me, (and most likely your average engine chipper as well) so to think that I can do better with a laptop seems mad and if I'm honest a little arrogant. Have you changed the tires, the brakes, the suspension and certain components of the engine to compensate for this extra ability? I don't mean to be all preachy and if you have done all this properly (but I'm sure for how much that would cost you could have just bought a gti) then I apologize, but if not then you may find that car wearing out a little quicker than it should.

What makes you so sure that because someone is working in the factory, they automatically know more than an aftermarket tuner about how an engine works?

I believe manufacturers tune engines conservatively to allow for more durability in the engines, and to allow for future factory upgrades with new models.

Having said that, 45hp is a big % gain on this engine. Wonder if any other bits were upgraded to ensure reliability?
