Rear brake pumps replaced at 82400 km.
Engine oil vapour tube replaced at the same time.
Transmission blew at 82500 km.
A great little hatchback, although too much voracious on petrol for a 1.3 liter.
Legally speaking, this car comes with 145 or 155 size tyres wich I do not recommend. Use 165 or 175 size tyres.
Handling on sharp bends is tricky. Tends to overturn.
Too lightweight.
I don't know how it originally handled for I bought the car with gas suspension.
Beautiful steering wheel and incredibly comfortable Recaro seats.
As with any dealer repair services here in Portugal, it's a complete rip-off. You can get the same job done elsewhere for about half the cost.
It's a very fun car to drive. You get more out of the 1.3 engine at about 3500 rpm.
Hi.
I'm from Portugal as well, from Porto.
The only reason I'm writing English is to avoid deletion of my comment! :P.
I just bought my Coupe GT a few days ago. It's still in my garage, doing a complete check-up. It already has 180.000 km, but it appears to be impeccable, so far.
Do you know how many horsepower does it have? I've heard many kinds of answers, therefore I can't tell which ones are true or false.
I don't know where you're from, but up here in Porto, there is a company named SVP Auto, where you can purchase pretty much everything, not only to Volkswagen. And with warranty as well! I went there to pick up some parts for my '88 GT coupe. They sell used parts, but in top notch conditions :).
I have a Polo G40 and standard it runs around 115BHP, whereas the GT coupe has 75BHP standard from the 1.3 multi point injection system.
