1991 Volkswagen Polo GT review from UK and Ireland
"Good for a bit of fun for a young person and fairly reliable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The fuel tank developed a leak at about 60000 miles. Common problem I understand.
Clutch cable was replaced at 63000.
Starter motor at 65000.
Seat on drivers side is beginning to show age now, but nothing serious.
General comments?
The car is "nippy". Not fast. Will hold its own against most non sports cars and leave cars in the same category for dead most times.
Handles OK. Not brilliant, but not bad.
Brakes could be better. Anyone who owns a polo from around that age will tell you that though, GT version or not.
