1991 Volkswagen Polo GT Hatchback review from UK and Ireland
"Excellent if you can find one!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing so far! Previous owner had new fuel tank fitted, which is an extremely common thing for this model of polo.
General comments?
What a car! This is my third polo and Its by far the best. Picked it up for eight hundred and twenty five pounds in a garage in Leicester. Sixty four thousand miles, twelve months MOT and absolutely mint. Virtually no rust at all which wasn't the case with my last two polos. This is an extremely rare car, Volkswagen only produced it for thirteen months! I've been very lucky to find such a good one.
The specification of this car is excellent as well. Alloy wheels, tinted windows, steel sunroof, black sports interior, not to mention the performance: Plenty of poke in all gears. Being the GT model though, I would expect nothing less. It's good on petrol too.
It's lots of fun and handles well too. My only gripe is the brakes, which aren't quite good enough to match the performance, but some G40 disc's should sort that out.
