1984 Volkswagen Polo C review from UK and Ireland
"The most reliable small car in the world"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Heater failed after 85,000 miles.
Left side rear headlight failed after 97,000 miles.
General comments?
Paid £750 for a 10 year old Polo in 1994. Apart from the two electrical problems mentioned above, the Polo gave me two years of faultlessly reliable motoring at a low cost. It was a bit short on performance and comfort, but as a cheap runabout it was like being in motoring Utopia. I sold it to my sister
for £400 and she kept in for 4 years until it finally came to the end of the road after 16 years and 130,000 miles.
