1984 Volkswagen Rabbit D review from North America
"Inexpensive parts, good gas mileage, easy to work on"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing was major wrong with the car when I bought it except the A/C was beyond repair, but typically for a 18 year old car.
I did a rebuild of the head and cooling system.
General comments?
Very cheap car to purchase used and great gas mileage. Kind of fun to drive, but very gutless. Given another chance I would have looked for a turbo model. The parts are very inexpensive and the car has very little electronics so very easy to work on. Diesel's are typically more reliable than their gas counterparts. Though this is no Mercedes diesel, I would still expect to get more than 250,000 miles out of the bunny.
