1981 Volkswagen Rabbit four door review from North America
"Loud, slow, smelly, reliable, cheap and fun to drive"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The tires are wobbly and off-balance, making the car feel like im riding a horse.
The water-pump pulley is bent.
The door handles are very stiff and don't work.
Air conditioning does not work.
All of the air vents are loose.
General comments?
The diesel volkswagen rabbit is a very noisy, slow car, but getting 50 miles per gallon makes up for any inconvenience. If you can get used to the smell of diesel exhaust, this car may be your best friend.
This diesel rabbit handles very good on paved and dirt roads, but tires to tip over on very hard cornering at high speeds.
I'm 6'5" and can comfortably sit inside the rabbit, even for two-hour drives.
Everything in the car rattles and vibrates from the diesel motor.
I love this VolksWagen. Its very small and easy to park, I've had a lot of fun in it, and I will drive this car untill the wheels fall off.
