1992 Volkswagen Scirocco Scala review from UK and Ireland

Only wear & tear items have had to be replaced.

Its on its second ventilated front Disks.

Front tyre's tend to go before rear due to front wheel drive.

Electric Windows are slow / Jamming mainly due to the Rubber / fabric lined runners (and not the motors)

The purchase price of this car was £5000 with the plan to drive it like my 'Jetta', to 150,000m. however due to my near 30,000m per year traveling. I took it off the road 2yrs ago at 193,000 left it standing in the open.

Gave it to a neighbour's son as a first car. It started first time (after a year standing). It took him a year to decide that he didn't want it as the insurance too high (had not used it in that time). So I've taken it back as my Fun Car (Because the Kids & Family have made me use a Polo 1.9 DL).And Guest What? after another year it still Starts First Time.

I've got to hand it to this car. I've had no Major Faults. Servicing I do My self, because I can. A timing light and car manual a socket set, & Genuine V.W. parts And your Away. try that on a modern car. I don't think so!!

The handling is firm, but if it was flabby the road holding and general handling would suffer.

The other half keeps going on about power steering, and head room front (as well as back). I say "I like the work out - and it's only when parking, I also like the closeness of the cabin".

Oh by the way I've also had another Sirocco Scala 1.8i "K Reg" (1993)

bought at 60000m had to scrap at 150,000m.

However this one had been stolen and recovered after me owning it for only a month. and did have running hot and head gasket problems, as well as internal heater matrix leak. However I do put a lot of this down to the abuse it took when it was stolen.
