1984 Volkswagen Scirocco Wolfsburg review from North America
"Great little sports car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
New down pipe from exhaust manifold to cat.
New fuel pump.
Replace rocker cover gasket.
Seat cover for drivers side.
Need to fix passenger power window as it is not working.
Nor are the power mirrors. (but then who cares whats behind you)
General comments?
I have always wanted one of these cars, a buddy had an 76 Rocco that was a blast to drive. This was a well maintained car by the previous owner, K&N air filter, synthetic oil, Fram oil filter, lowered 1 inch, 215 60's, high end paint job (Mars Red) all over including the under carriage and engine bay. Unfortunately he let the body go a bit and there is now a little rust showing it's ugly head. Will have to jump on it right away.
This car is an absolute thrill to drive, the tranny's close ratio and the firm suspension make it yearn for twisting two lane blacktops. The acceleration out of this little engine is amazing, I used to have a 2.2l turbo MX6, this thing would have no problem staying with it.
I would like to see if I can can squeeze a little more out of it, but I don't think I go too crazy.
