2005 Volkswagen Touran SE review from UK and Ireland
"Over-rated rubbish - very unreliable, terrible customer service"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Wheel vibration, particularly on the motorway. Changes wheels round, had them balanced etc but still not resolved by dealer (4 visits)
Traction control light comes on intermittently
ABS light comes on intermittently
Windows work intermittently - sometimes don't close properly, sometimes don't want to open
Handbrake had to be adjusted by dealer - wouldn't hold on hills
Clutch judder on hill starts (dealer said - you're driving it wrong!!!)
Rain water leak from windscreen meant screen had to be removed and resealed
Rain water leak from roof weld! Had a week in the body shop for this
Carpets semi-permanently wet - another leak that the dealer can't find
No spare wheel and tyre sealing compound didn't work - left self, wife & 3 young kids stranded for 1.5 hours at the side of a freezing cold, soaking wet motorway. Thanks a bunch VW service!
General comments?
I wanted to like this car but now I hate it.
It's comfortable to drive and the economy is good but this is let down by the appalling build quality and poor dealer service
Build quality is rubbish
Electrics are rubbish
Dealers are rubbish - give me a 3-door 1.2 Polo basic to transport wife & 3 kids all on booster seats - they wouldn't even fit in the back!
Customer service is appallingly bad - i.e. there isn't any and if you do complain you are just fobbed off by the VW call centre.
I will never buy another VW after this.
