1986 Volvo 240 GLE review from Norway
"Swedish steel at its best!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I had the car about half a year, and changed one taillight light-bulb. 6-7 NOK at the gas station (about one US dollar)
No problems of any kind!
A "foolproof" car, Swedish quality steel!
General comments?
This is a sturdy old car, that seems very well put together.
Easy to maintain, cheap parts.
Good gas mileage for a car its size, about 0,7-0,9 liters per 10 kilometers on the highway. (Of course more if you have a heavy right foot)
No race-car, but NOT as sluggish as most people think. Quite a bit of torque, available even in the low RPM range.
No oil filling needed between change (i changed the oil every 10,000km)
Great heating/defrost system!
Not a lot of "gadgets", but then again, not that much will brake.
COMFORTABLE, AFFORDABLE, SAFE AS A BOMB SHELTER.
