1984 Volvo 244 DL review from North America
"I highly recommend the Volvo 240 above any car ever produced!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Replaced seats, visor clips, speakers, fuses, valve cover gasket, water pump, thermostat, distributor, rotor, cap, wires, plugs, electronic Ignition Control Module, ECU main computer, battery, alternator, mass air flow meter, wiring harness, all hoses, belts, lights, brake pads, catalytic converter, vacuum lines, set timing with new belt all in a couple of days with my own self labor with prior knowledge of Volvos and reading the manuals with easy access to all used parts in mint condition which is all routine anyway for the age, but the Volvo is the only possible vehicle to root out any common problems easiest. Did not change A/C system since all major components were deteriorated.
General comments?
Safest, cheapest, most practical and comfortable car to operate in the world after owning 20 other cars from other manufacturers. The all wheel disc brakes are excellent, body preservation, durable 4 cylinder engine engineering and Electronic fuel injection was far advanced for the era of the vehicle surpassing the reliability of any modern vehicle after the last of the Volvo 4 cylinders in 1995.
