1990 Volvo 340 GL review from UK and Ireland
"Underrated vehicle by the motoring press"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Radiator replaced about every three years.
Starter Motor 145,00 miles.
Water Pump replaced 138,000 miles.
Boot strut replaced 90,000 miles.
Fuel Jets require cleaning every 6 months after 75,000 miles otherwise car is prone to uneven running. Common fault with this engine.
Some of rear brake pipes have been replaced.
Renewal of door hinges.
Electric Mirrors no longer work.
General comments?
Heavy to drive with a sod of a gearbox, but my body soon acclimatised.
Bought new (Family car) and hoping to take to its grave. Quite cheap to run.
Engine has good torque and the use of second and third gear (Revs 2.5K to 3.5k) makes for good overtaking.
Comfortable driving position, nice to drive better than some modern cars, don't be put of by its reputation as a bit of a tank.
Interior is a bit shoddy now, but my Labrador dog loves it (Mobile Kennel).
