1985 Volvo 360 review from Denmark
"An anonymous car with qualities"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Timing belt broke, caused me to replace the engine. This was probably my own fault as I didn't replace the timing belt despite it being past the 300000 kilometer mark.
I have been struggling with a lot of rust, but then again, it wasn't in a too good shape as I bought it.
There seem to be leaks around the windows and doors letting water come in when it rains.
Fuel system is probably clogged (fuel tank) as the engine keeps hesitating. I did replace the ignition wires, and the ignition system is diagnosed to be OK, carburettor replaced, which leaves me thinking the fuel line and tank must be the fault.
Reverse light (the white light at the back of the car when you put it in reverse gear) does not stay on.
It runs on 98 RON which is being phased out nowadays.
General comments?
It is a cheap car in Denmark, mostly because it has a reputation of being boring and being a "grandfather car" - but it is far more comfortable than most other heavily used cars in this price range.
If I can make the engine run smooth again, I would go for another 360 when this one eventually will fail inspection (due every second year).
