1. Erratic tickover and a juddering when setting off. Eventually sourced problem myself after Volvo Service engineers said it was 'Normal for Vehicle'on TWO sevice visits.
2. Sometimes difficult to accelarate 'briskly' without spinning wheels.
3. Recent slight leak in radiator.
I wouldn't have recommended this vehicle prior to having sourced the problem.(Which took 18 months). Since sorting , it is a much better vehicle.
I have little/no respect for the servicing company.(Since lost the Volvo franchise).
The car would probably suit older owners. Bodywork etc. marvellous.
I have just read your review on your Volvo 440 and wondered if you could tell me what the problem turned out to be, as mine is doing the same thing and is getting on my nerves.
Please could you e-mail me at jeff.todd@virgin.net
Would you mind telling me what the problem is as well please. It doesn't seem to richen the mixture enough when it's cold so you have to put a few revs on, then the idle speed is a bit high when it's warm. I've tried replacing the coolant temp sensor, but it made it worse. My e-mail is simon.hill@mira.co.uk
Cheers.
Just read the about the erratic engine problem. I also have the same problem. Any ideas or help please to lccop@yahoo.com
Thanks.

Hi my volvo 440 glei also ticks over badly when cold, but as soon as its worm its fine. my car has been round the clock and is back at 187.000 miles. the car is ment to do 0-60 in about 11 seconds, but I took my air filter and box of and it pulls to sixty so quick now its bloody scary. as for rust its on the bottom door edges and rear wheel arches. ill sort it out as soon as possible. I made a straight through exhaust. no middle box no back box and the back box is now a rover 214s centre silecer. it sounds great. like a subaru impreza. it turns head like a naked bird in the strret.
