Hi.
I had a DAF 66 1975 and a DAF 33 1966 some 20 years ago.
I done a full engine rebuild of the DAF 66 by using a Renault 5 engine (the cylinders and sleavs are the same size 1.1L).
If I could buy one today I would, but here in Israel these car a very rare (even in 1987 it was rare).
I am a Volvo 66 GL owner in southern IRL. I have a maroon coloured 66 GL saloon with a silver stripe (1976) and a light green 66GL estate (1977) both have 1 previous owner. I found the saloon in a shed stored for approx 15 yrs by a lady who was about to send it to the recyclers for melting! In its prime the car made a regular trip from Dublin to Cork every week. At the moment, the car is mid-way through its complete restoration, right down to the rear seat belts, and the factory fitted spotlights recessed in the front grille (a Volvo extra). The other car unfortunately is only suitable for spares.
I am in Southern Ireland - Mid West - and have a Red Volvo 66GL 1978 in need of restoration.
I am unable to do the work myself due to disability but would like to find someone who is capable and willing to price doing so for me.
It is a couple of years since I started it, and at that time it was driving. The centrifugal action for take off was failing so it engaged with a bump.
I can be contacted at clareoldie at gmail dot com - Volvo66 in the subject line.
I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has renovated one of these in Ireland or knows someone who might be capable of taking on the job.
Thank you.
