1988 Volvo 740 GLE review from UK and Ireland
"A very good all rounder, will do anything it is asked off"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Well there is not much that can hurt these cars, but my brother did burn out the clutch at about 145.000 miles, needed changing anyway.
The only thing that I don't like on this car is the interior (plastic) it is very cheap and nasty, breaks easy.
Oh 1 other thing the breather pipes get clogged up with nasty oil and water (condensation) but is an easy fix.
General comments?
Well I could go on about this car all week,i would say it is one of the best cars ever built, its very very strong very reliable, it can take a hell of a beating unlike other cars e. g fords, it has never let us down, I would say it is the best work horse no matter what, this type of car if looked after will live on for ever, I am restoring mine now after 7 years of nothing, but normal servicing, this car is unbelievably strong, I don't see why it will not do 300.000 miles with no problem, my car has been over to Ireland 4 times from Scotland to Manchester about 7 times,it has done endless journeys round town (over 200.000 miles on the clock Say's a bit doesn't it) i no for a fact that this car will not stop.
