1995 Volvo 850 Turbo Sedan review from North America
"Top notch performance/drivetrain; bottom of the barrel A/C and power options"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Do NOT buy a Volvo 850 for the amenities. The extras on these cars are unreliable. My car has had issues with:
1) Faulty A/C condensor
2) Broken odometer/trip meter gear
3) Broken driver's seat power adjustment
4) Faulty power antenna
General comments?
If a person is looking for a great "bang for the buck" performance car, with a drivetrain that is both reliable and durable, the Volvo 850 turbo is tough to top. This car will match small block V8's in a straight line, plus pass them while they are refueling twice as often. When the turbo pressure builds, this car is a pleasure to drive. Breaks tires loose at will on full throttle starts.
However, if add-on niceties are your thing, avoid these cars. Outside of the power windows/sunroof, any other feature is a crap shoot in terms of whether it will work each day. If you can overlook these shortcomings, this car is a mechanically reliable pleasure to drive.
