"A wolf in sheep's clothing... boy racers beware"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Dump valve rod came off

drivers door lock is totally disengaged

ABS pedal switch worn

Drivers seat worn

a couple of rattles and squeaks.

General comments?

What a car.

These go like stink

standard is about 225-230 bhp

although put them on a rolling road with all that accessories this drops to an actual value of 200+- bhp.

I recently bought this car had it checked by Volvo who sait it was in tip top condition. Purchase price £2600 at 101000 miles.

What a bargain Full leather, air con, and a whole lot of motoring fun. Its fantastic mid range power has been boosted by the addition of a super chip (and increase of 25% torque and about 30 bhp.) drivers of brand new £30,000 BMW 330ci's be warned you will not out accelerate this baby even at 100 mph. 0-60 in about 6 seconds 70-110 in about 4-5 seconds. anyone out there know of a specialist to modify the turbo etc would appreciate the info (d.shelton@btinternet.com)

I would highly recommend one of these babys... the boy racers don't know whats hit them and owners of more refined luxury cars (we will mention no names) are green with envy at the performance.

Actually I live in the U.S. and I am looking to buy a Volvo 850. I was wondering if you knew of any difference between the T-5 turbo and the regular Turbo. Please e-mail me at Soupy87@juno.com. Thanks.

The T5 turbo is more powerful about 240 horsepower. The regular GLT turbo has 222 horsepower, I believe.

The T-5R turbo is 240 horses, the T-5 is 222 horses, with the GLT turbo (low pressure) is approx 190 horses.

My 1994 850 T5 has made 290.000km and no problem in the engine at all. Only failure on the air con. Consumption on a highway at 120Km/h around 9 l/100km. Very good behaviour on snow.

I need to change the distribution belt and the forward discs, which I'm not sure yet I will do...

Hey there,

I crashed the front of my '94 Volvo 850 Turbo and it is missing a driver side front light now. It has been a while since I crashed it and I am having difficulties finding one. Do you have any idea where can I find the front light for Volvo? (not e-bay) Or,maybe, if anyone has one, I would purchase it immediately!

Thanks.

Hi I am 20 and from the UK. I have recently purchased the 850 T5 because I think it's a great looking car, and I know they perform well. Yes, I am a typical boy racer you could say, I have had lots of "chav cars" and the fastest I had was a Saxo VTS which topped out at 140 mph.

I took the 850 T5 for a test drive, and I loved the handling and how nice the ride was (no body roll), so I bought it there and then at a fair price.

I took it easy for the first week or two to get used to the car, and then I took it on the M62 (you english people will know it), and I was cruising at a nice speed of 70, then an Impreza tried getting cocky; I didn't know how well it went top end, but I gave it ago anyway, and am not kidding the power of the 850 T5 is sickening. It was from 70-120 like that, and still off like a rocket. Yeah it might be a brick on wheels, but it flies.

A great looking car, lovely big turbo! Buy one!

I'm being given a 94 850 T5 with 230,000kms on the clock. Previous owner says everything is fine with it except that it's guzzling fuel - about 19 litres per 100 kms! Any ideas what might be causing it and how much it'll cost to put right? The Volvo dealer I've spoken to (in France where I live) says they're not equipped to fix it.
