1991 Volvo 940 Volvo SE Turbo review from North America

Starter- replaced due too bad wiring.

Battery- $100 Bosch premium battery.

Radio- replaced a fuse works fine now.

Hydraulic hood struts- $100 to replace.

2 speakers only work- cannot remedy yet...

Drivers power seat works sometimes.

Since I was a little kid, I always wanted a Volvo, and I have always loved how they look. So on my 16th birthday I got a 1991 Volvo 940 SE turbo, the one I always wanted. This car is really great, and for having 216000 miles it is pretty good condition. With the exception of the drivers seat working when it feels like it, and only 2 speakers that work. But those elements of the car that do not affect it wonderful performance. The car is very nice to nice, and I prefer driving it to any other car, since it has Rear Wheel Drive. The only problem I have had with it is the starter going bad, but that was an easy fix, which now paid off because the TANK as I call it starts fine. When you are driving it, it does feel like a tank:a very nice tank though. One needs to apply a, but more pressure on the brakes to stop it, but will stop fine on a dime if need be. One of the many things I love about this car is the way you get out of the car (the door handles) it feels like you are getting out of a tank. Then when you close the door it is very heavy it just screams quality. The car is very comfortable, with especially the back seats. I have had many comments on how comfortable the back is! The heated seats are a very nice added bonus for those cold mornings. On a long trip the level of comfort is very high. The interior is very practical and well lay ed out. My favorite feature is if the motor to the power sunroof fails there is a panel one can take off and manually close or open the sunroof. Every control in the cockpit feels strong, and there is some Volvo quality built into each switch. Though some controls appear old looking, they are very tough and built with quality. The power is also pretty good with the turbo charger, which make all the difference when entering a highway, or just feeling like going fast. The only thing I do not like about this car is the gasoline mileage, as it is pretty bad, and the fact that it needs premium or mid-grade gasoline. But with all things considered the Volvo 940 SE Turbo is the best car out there today. It is my Swedish Tank!!
