1998 Volvo 960 V90 review from North America
"Expensive and not as durable as older Volvo's"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Sunroof motor, Left Strut, Left Rear Shock, Transmission mode selector, A/C, Battery. Still has front suspension knock which dealer cannot find, says endemic of the car. Brake pads had to be replaced several times, more so than my previous cars--so it is not a driver's problem. Right C-pillar frame molding is distorted, came from factory this way. Lots of squeaks and body flex. Quality of leather seats are inferior, driver's side worn smooth after 10,000 miles--dealer said was "normal".
General comments?
Very expensive to repair and maintain. Quality is not up to par with BMW and the like, although Volvo's prices have risen to that range. Poor mileage. Front seats are too short, and car is tiring to drive on extended trips, even with power seats. Disappointed in quality overall.
Best feature is very tight turning circle, can make U-turns anywhere. Spacious cargo capacity. Nice looks, classy looking. Boxy style is so much more distinctive and functional than newer Volvo's.
