2000 Volvo S40 SE review from UK and Ireland
"Sporty looking alternative!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing as yet
General comments?
This is my second S40 and I'm sure it will not be my last.
The car in my opinion is a good looking car. With its 16" alloys, spoiler and twin exhaust, it looks quick and sporty, but without the high insurance premiums and unwanted attention from either the police or boy racers. And at 27 years of age that's exactly right for me!
I travel allot for work and I find the S40 the most comfortable car I have ever driven. Driving up and down the motorway you could be mistaken for thinking you are driving a motorized arm-chair. I have the leather option, with the arm rest and coupled with the excellent seat design and cabin the only thing I worry about before a long journey is boredom not discomfort.
The car however, isn't exactly a hot rod (unless you go for the T4 of course) but I find it extremely adequate and once you get her up to speed she will keep up with most cars in her class. The build quality I find has an edge on my previous 1997 SE and feel firmer, solid and more refined.
The UK dealerships seem to be allot better then our cousins in America as I find them excellent. And the customer service doesn't stop once you have bought the car either. Going into my dealership is actually a pleasure!
Thumbs up Volvo.
