1996 Volvo S40 review from Netherlands
"Safety...Good performance...Comfort...and great fuel economy"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
At about the 180,000 km mark the computer that controlled the LPG went wrong, but lucky for me it was still under the Garages guarantee.
The Tyres started to make a wow wow wow sound at low speeds, but that was because when I bought it, it had winter tyres on, and had started to wear un-evenly.
During cold weather, when I go over speed bumbs, the suspension sounds like the front bumber is grinding on the floor, but apparently this is a design flaw in the early models.
Small electric shocks from the doors when getting out... but I think that is just the clothes that I wear... :)
But with all this said, there have been no major problems, and it should not deter you from buying a this car...
General comments?
Handles very well at high and low speeds.
LPG version (when filling the car in Belgium ) can travel 350km +/- for about 14 euro.
When driving this car, you feel your safe from almost any thing that could possibly happen on the out side...
