2001 Volvo S40 review from North America
"Poor quality control on a good concept"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I had a leaky turbo seal at 35,000 miles.
I've replaced the rotars twice in the last 40,000 miles.
I had a broken engine mount at 60,000 miles (seems to be a common problem with the S40)
To this date I have an undiagnosed transmission slip. The car will slip into neutral, the engine will rev, and then it pops back into gear. Three different Volvo dealerships can't find the cause.
General comments?
The car has had too many problems for me to feel good about buying another Volvo.
However, the handling of this vehicle has already saved me from a serious collision.
