This is a highly specified, sophisticated, well designed motor car aimed at a traditional discerning market. Unfortunately Ford (who own Volvo) have applied a mass market mentality to manufacture and tried to build this car at a Mondeo price. The build and material quality have consequently suffered, especially for sub contracted equipment, and the performance of the car does not match its perceived value.
I am buying Mercedes and will not buy Volvo again.
Do your homework. Ford had zero input on the 2001 V70 T5.
I second the comment regarding that Ford had no input to the design/manufacture of your 2001 Volvo V70. This car is a Volvo product through and through. The problem Volvo is experiencing is that they are a small manufacturer (even with Ford's ownership) and they have not tested their new technology sufficiently. I base this on having worked at a Volvo service facility - my information is based on conversations with veteran Volvo technicians.
By the way, late-model Mercedes products are equally as unreliable!
I hope whatever you replace your V70 with is better.
I bought my 2001 Volvo V70 2.4T approx 6 months ago and have never spent so much repairing one car in such a short period of time!
The computer had mis-diagnosed poor idle and cutting out to be a filter and after the third one was then diagnosed as a faulty throttle module - cost in total £700.00.
Ate a set of tyres in 10,000 miles - why is traction control not standard?
Latest bill is over £1000.00 excluding the service. Parts required 2 x front shock absorbers, 2 x steering rack joints, rear suspension bushes.
I should have listened to others and gone for a Lexus - but I knew best...
