2001 Volvo XC70 review from UK and Ireland
"Don't go there"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Engine replaced at 78K, £5K.
Gearbox replaced at 70K, £4K.
Radiator.
Rear discs.
Car drifts left, tracking set, may be tyre choice, don't know, any clues?
Handbrake cable snapped.
Leaking shock absorber R/n £500 fitted.
General comments?
The car is very comfortable and quick, and inspires confidence in the snow. However I would NOT recommend this car to anybody.
Maintenance costs are horrifically high.
Transmission problems occurred when tyre wear differences front to rear were more than 2mm. This info was only made known to me by a work colleague who knew a friend at a dealership. It is VITAL the tyres are rotated front to back. Front tyres wear faster 2mm every 12K miles (my experience). Ignoring this could cost you.
At some point the car had suffered coolant loss prior to me purchasing it. The engine begun to run
rough. An engineer examined it. The engine was trash.
