Overall this car has performed well past its time I give it credit for lasting this long even with regular maintaince its just beyond its time engine still runs good and trans never once sliped so I give props to gm yea things have gone wrong, but its just a grocery getter not a cruiser like it was back when I baught it it was good looking and peppy back then, but its time to lay it to rest at the local junk yard even though its been in my life since 12 miles on the odometer car has never stranded me most of all failures occured in my own driveway lucky me! 3.1 got longlife to run and still has life left in it too...
Cigarette burns aren't the cars problem, more like the owners for being careless. Please don't consider damage from neglect "something going wrong with the car"
Technically it could be a problem since it takes away from the pleasure of the vehicle. Most of the problems that owners put on here are caused by neglect.
Since I have owned my Lumina a few things have gone wrong. I found that the alternator went avg. every 3 years. I have had to get the front shocks and struts repaired twice. This car is susceptible to front end damage when you hit large potholes at high speeds. I have kept great regular maintanence. With the brakes, I found that the front pads needed to be replaced every 3 years, and the drums have been repaired twice. However, the back brakes have a tendency to lockup because they are rarely used. I got great fuel mileage, until I had to take the catalytic converter out.. The fuel pump had to be repaired once. But, for my car having over 330,000km on it, I think these repairs come as part of the package. Now I am starting to get strange noises that are not easily diagnosed.
Overall, I think this car has been great!
