The dealership busted up the door locks after getting it serviced after 6000 miles (3 months of ownership). With that, they deleted the car's computer system. The dealership was so careless about our car, and after the service the radio died (covered by warranty).
Other than problems after the service, the car was driven almost 130 miles a day on average, and because of it we spent $850, I repeat 850 American Dollars a month on gas. Since it's my parents car, I drove it myself and the handling is not at its best. Since we realized that owning the car is too expensive to fill up and keeping up with payments, we may get rid of it in the next few weeks.
It is a nice car, but now we totally regret buying it in the first place. I myself am somewhat disappointed that we are going to sell it, but hopefully we will find a more fuel efficient, Luxurious alternative. I'm thinking of a G35, Lincoln MKX, or a Lexus. German cars cost too much to maintain. I wish it doesn't have to go, but it does.
I calculated you drive 3900 miles in one month in that time you would need 12.74 refuels with an 18 gallon tank, to the most you would need 687.96 dollars in fuel in one month, assuming gas is $3.00 a gallon. Spending 850 dollars in one month is excessive unless you have a lead foot. By the way that was calculated with 17 MPG EPA estimate in city limits. Or something is mechanically wrong with the car. I also understand you said 130 miles average.
Well the thing was that there was an office about 60 or so miles from home and for about a month my mother had to drive down there everyday to replace a worker that quit his job. I remember that before 3 months of ownership it had 5000 miles on it, but the car was driven quite a bit, more than we thought we'd drive it.
Well the next car you choose hopefully it's a good one.
I drive my DTS 120 miles each day round trip for work. At $3 a gallon I spend around $400 a month for gas. I do have a lead foot, and will often drive the Caddy at 75-90 MPH on some open places on I-80. I have been getting 19-21 MPG on the highway, in town the Caddy is a gas hog, only getting 14.5 MPG. I drive our Impala in town!
If you're in the market for a fuel efficient car, why are you looking at expensive luxury cars?I wouldn't buy a cadillac or any other luxury car and expect great fuel economy.Cadillac's have never been fuel efficient and most people who buy them know they're gas guzzlers. When Cadillac tried to make fuel efficient cars, (cimmarron, diesel, V864) they were automotive flops and the demand for them was low. One of the best selling Cadillacs these days is the biggest gas hog of them all:The Escalade. The dealers feel if you can afford to spend $30k-$60k+ for a car, then you can surely afford the gas.
We have a 2006 DTS and we get good gas mileage. on the open highway we get about 28 miles to the gallon. and I drive about 80 on I-70. In town its about 22 mpg. We have the performance package and are very satisfied with it.
