Bent L/H brake caliper, think it was done at a service by the agent - was replaced.
Fantastic car with extras, electric sunroof,
ABS, and an aftermarket airfilter.
Handles and goes very well.
Good fuel costs even with the air con on.
The Lancer that I have is a 1989 model and only has a 1600cc engine. Unfortunatly it doesn't have aircon or ABS but still goes very well. What BHP does the 1800cc car have?
The specifications for the GTi, as by the book. 105 KW, 167 NM torque, kerb weight 1,060 kg, top speed 210kph.
Not a bad little package.
I've got a 91 Lancer GTi, it's done 195,000 k's now and still going strong.
It's starting to blow a bit of smoke, but it's quite a bit quicker than most other 1800's and even some 2L's.
The top speed's closer to 200, I've tried, but never managed to get it above that.
I have a lancer gti 96' the only wrong thing in this car are the brakes!!!
Greetings from argentina!
Hi!!!

I'm in New Zealand and I've just replaced the ignition leads, and what an improvement! This car's seriously fast now.
Next thing to get done are the brakes, as they're letting me down a bit, but once they're done it should be a really good all round car again.
Well, I bought my Lancer GTI 1800ccm 1991 four years ago and, since I LOVE speeding, it's what I always dreamed of. I'm from Serbia and we don't have a lot of cars like this one here so it's pretty difficult to find parts, but I manage. Mine came without ABS and aircondition, but I installed aircondition this year and it works great. No problems whatsoever, breaks are great, engine even better, 212700km and running. If anyone knows where I can find specifications or any other material or just owns a car like this, write me!

I bought my lancer gti 1,8 -96 in summer 2003 (133000km), performance is pretty good for a car without turbo, only problem I have had with a handbrake system. the car is quite unique here in Finland, and I like it :)
I bought my Lancer 1800 GTI may 2002, the vehicle had a broken cam belt and all 16 valves were bent.
Since then I have totally rebuilt the engine, the parts were very expensive, also very hard to find.
I agree with the comments that there is not enough documented information on this vehicle, but I have managed to find allot of technical information.
My Lancer is totally rebuilt and will keep up with and leave behind most of the vehicles in its class today.
The main power band is in third gear and the acceleration is brilliant.
If I can help with any advise or you just want to chat, do not hesitate to contact me.

Hi! I have had my Lancer 1.8GTI -95 since 1997 and I have been happy with it. Some problems I have had with rear brakes and just recently the bearings from water pump broke up. Luckily I was able to get it replaced before huge damage to other parts. Spares seem to be hard to find in some other countries also not only in Finland? At the moment I'm waiting for valve head gasket to arrive from the land of rising sun...
Greeting from indonesia.
I've just recently bought a 95' GTi... my first test drive were doing allright, but after I 'm at highway with 160kph its all start shaking!!..next stop I've go 80kph and its shaked already..
Any body could help me?
Couple days later my door warning light were keep on although all the doors were perfectly closed.. beside the handbrake were not stopped the car well and the transmission were little odd for gear change.
Beside it.. i love how my standard car, were going highspeed!!! (the low-mid torq. werent too good)

Thanks.
I have recently purchased a '96 Mitsubishi Lancer sedan. I loved it's sporty shape and glossy red paint job. It has all the gadgets standard. She still needs a set of rims as the standard alloys are rather boring for such a pocket rocket as the MR. I had her at 7000 rpm, 125 kph. Triptronic gearbox locked in 2nd. Pulled out because of lack of road. Never tried or needed to push her harder then that.
Took me awhile, but I finally like her. She does lag a bit taking off, but doesn't affect the car when at speed or passing.
Complaints - well none as yet. The car is still under warranty and my fingers are crossed.
I enjoy this car a lot. I don't love it yet. For me, I've always wanted a new sports car, and now that I've got one?
Maybe it's just fantasy being better than the real thing. Can't explain it other than to say 'Yes it's a nice ride, but never have the appeal of the V8's'. The ladies seem to like the car, which can never be a bad thing right!

Hey, I'm from New Zealand and have a 1995 Mitsubishi lancer GTi (red, manual and with a sunroof) I've have owned it almost 2 years and it has done 166000km. nothing has gone wrong with it yet (Brakes are awesome) but the handbrake does need adjusting from time to time. As for the speed, got it up to 215km/h and it still could do more. it doesn't shake at any speed for me, I love the car although a big improvement would be if it was four-wheel-drive (or maybe just wider tyres) as the front tyres tend to want to wheel-spin.
I'm from New Zealand. I own a Mitsubishi Lancer 1.8 Gti, 96. (Red, Manual, Sunroof, Big bore and pod filter, 230000ks). Still run's well, quicker than a lot of other 1800cc and 2L. Does not shake when reaching high speed. Have only taken it 170kph. Thing's that have gone wrong with it is the front driver's side window needing a hand time to time. And the front brakes jammed and wore out the brake pads. And hard to find parts for it.
All around excerllent car. Nice and roomy. Love it.
Hey guys, I'v got a 96 Lancer GTI, had it for about 4 months, had done 175k, now just over 180k.
The problems I've found are... the drivers side window having that click and needing a hand every once in a while and the sun roof... rusted quite a bit, but doesn't leak.
Just got an RPS 2 1/4 inch xust and 35% tints, would look awesome lowered and mags... working on that!
I want to put a pod filter on it, but I've been told I would need to get it remapped? Any advice?
Oh, and I'm 6ft 2' and I think the back seats are a little high! Dragged a Corolla FX GT today and get a lil brown smoke or whateva out the back, should I be concerned? Oh yes and I won haha, great little car. Email me with any advice!
