"No good"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Struts are being replaced as I write.

I have had 4 Nissan products since 1999, and have loved the cars... however this one (2004 Maxima) has ruined me off ever owning another one.

The front end never seemed to align properly, and even after changing the tires a couple of times, nothing seemed to help. Finally, it was so bad that it was almost 'bottoming' out every time you went down the road.

We took it in, and sure enough, the struts were gone on it. The mechanic told us that several dealers were having problems with the 2004 Maxima's struts. A dealer in Austin, TX has had to stock the replacement struts because of so much call for them.

The dealer I purchased from has indicated that they will, of course, not do anything... but I am sooo disappointed in Nissan. The struts they used to build this car are bad, and Nissan is not doing anything about it.

A 2004 Nissan Maxima in NJ had to have its struts replaced three times, and the poor owner filed suit against Nissan over it wanting to have it declared a 'lemon'. Nissan knows they have this problem and are not doing anything about it.

My husband and I both drive Nissans, but we are trading them off as soon as possible, and will never own another one.

I had a 1999 Nissan Maxima for several years and loved that car. It is a shame that over some struts, Nissan is losing a lot of loyal customers.

General comments?

Artificial feel to steering.

Bad struts.

Front end alignment never right.

Too bad, was a really beautiful car.

First off I own a 2004 nissan maxima se. I have around 48K on the car. I have had nothing, but service issues over the past two years that I have owned the car. First I have had ABS issues (3 senors replaced out in two years), had to replace all four tires due to the side wall cracking, and now my struts have gone out in the front. There is nothing, but service issues with the 04 Maxima's. My best advice would be to purchase an 05 or higher. Should have gone with the TL, if I had the chance to do it all over again.
