Suspension, alternator, wiring, transmission, all have been problematic, and still are.
The only real value these cars have is by recycling their steel hides at a salvage yard, on the road they are a driver's worst nightmare, unreliable, you never know what will go wrong next and/or when, i know what I speak of, this is my sixth jetta, i kept hoping i'd find a good one, but there is no such thing as a good jetta.
You bought a car with 290000 miles on it and expect reliability?
