"You should not purchase a Kia Sedona"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

My 2005 Kia Sedona was purchased in January of 2006. In April of 2006 I returned to the dealer where I purchased the car, because of brake noises. They drove it around the lot and told me nothing was wrong with it. I continued to hear noises and returned 3 more times. Each time, I was told that nothing was wrong with the brakes. Being a woman, I accepted this information and thus received NO paperwork about these dealer visits. (The Kid corporation later informed my husband that it is their policy that any time a service worker gets in a vehicle they must write up paperwork???) Frusterated, after 4 trips to the dealer in less than a year, I took the car to a different Kia dealership, where I was told that the brakes needed an adjustment and a rod needed replaced because it was actually bent... on my dime of course, as any warranty for such an issue had since expired. The car had 17,000 miles on it. I paid to have these repairs done and the brakes are still making noise, at 19,000 miles. I have never heard of a brake adjustment at 17,000 miles. Additionally, the car is now making a grinding noise when making a left hand turn, and the transmission is making horrible noises. I am taking the car back in for repairs, for the 6th time in 18 months, tomorrow. Thus far, the Kia corporation has been a huge disappointment to work with and the car is a LEMON... only Kia made sure that I didn't realize it until the 15,000 mile Maryland Lemon Law had expired. I will NEVER purchase another Kia again and have told all of my "new mom" friends who are looking for minivans to "say no" to a Kia. In fact, my husband and I are thinking of taking a $2,600 hit and trading the car in for a new one... we are that disappointed in the car. DO NOT BUY A KIA!

General comments?

It's pretty strange that Kia to this date still can't put out a car with decent brakes. Just read about it anywhere. Affects most Kia models, but Sedonas are probably the worst. They are heavy cars with small brakes that wears out real fast and warping is a real problem too related to overheating. Kia usually dumps these kinds of problems to the consumers so watch out. Just compare the Sedona front rotors to about any other car you see why they don't work. They are smaller than my Ford brakes even if total weight for the Sedona is about 1000 pounds more.
