"Awesome car, but not for everyone"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

So Far nothing, been great.

General comments?

This has been my second A4 due to the great experience I had with my used 2004 1.8T. For those looking to buy used a car like this is a risk and there is no doubting it. These cars aren't for everyone, they are for those who understand the requirements of operating a car properly and who love what a car like this can offer. If you do buy used, I don't recommend the 1.8T because of the turbo and is more susceptible to previous owner butchering. I am constantly hearing how people are putting 87 octane in a car that was designed to run on 91, and\or using conventional oil when it has been running on synthetic. Doing something like that (as insignificant as it may sound) is destructive to the engine. Stick with the V6 and make sure it is thoroughly checked out. Keep up with the maintenance on the car, and change your oil frequently.

If you like to neglect your car, stay away from any German, especially this one.

The driving dynamics are magical on the 2007, as it feels lighter on it's feet and more nimble. This car truly drives great and is recommended to anyone when new. Can;t wait for the A5.

I would like to know if you noticed any handling difference from the 1.8t because I know the new audi's are front drivers except the A8. Seems like a stupid mistake or genius one due to the fact that people buy audis for quattro so may be they still get 60% power to the rear.

Incorrect.

Quattro AWD is available on all models, it's just that some also have the Fronttrak as an option. Audi chose FWD over RWD because it's more intune with their all weather reputation... ie: RWD + Rain = Ahhhh!

But again, Quattro is available on all Audi models.

To 16:48.

Quattro available on all models? Not the A3.

In the European market, Quattro has been available on the A3 for years with the 1.8T or higher powered 1.9 TDI engines.

I also disagree with the above statement about Quattro only being on the A8. In my area (northern Midwest, USA), Quattro is nearly ubiquitous on all Audis--and with good reason: Quattro coupled with a proper manual transmission is fantastic in the snow!

I have my '01 A4 Quattro Avant 1.8T purchased as late model Certified Pre-Owned with a favorable service history...I must completely agree with this reviewer that German cars, and especially VW family cars with turbos, must be regularly and faithfully serviced according to their service schedules, and higher octane gas always used in the turbo motors. I have run Amoco Premium 93 exclusively in my 1.8T, maintained by the book and have been rewarded with a great ownership experience thus far!

In my opinion, these are not cars for soccer moms or stingy teenagers who will not take proper care of their cars; rather, they are for those who take pleasure in the finer driver's cars and understand how to be a faithful owner in furtherance of the best driving and ownership experience.

On A3 Audi does not offer genuine quattro awd. It is just badged as quattro, but the car actually has haldex awd, witch is exactly the same as 4motion in VW golf.

I have an 06 which is good in the snow and love the interior but its been in the shop more than on the road. Its unreliable to say the least. The engine also burns more oil than gas and the dealer's fix is only to add more oil. Anyone know why?

Yeah, if you have the 2.0t or 1.8t model then that's why it burns more oil... not so much more fuel. when you floor the gas, the turbo sucks all that oil up and gas. I know this because my porsche turbo does the same thing.
