2007 Seat Leon Stylance Sport from UK and Ireland - Comments

"A lovey performer from Seat."

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing so far - touch wood.

General comments?

This car is a sheep in wolves clothing. It has the latest DSG 6 speed gearbox which is just sublime. For a diesel it goes like a bat - it can be a bit choppy a lower speeds and suits an open road well. The interior is well laid out and all the instruments glow an evil red with a lovely white dash to look at.

This car will compete with the Bmw's out there and make them look shameful.

I love it.

This is my follow up of my ownership of the above car.

Mmmm. Well what can I say so far - After about 600 mile the interior rattles like mad. In fact it drives me crazy on motorway journeys. The sporty suspension in town is extremely uncomfortable to the point nearly all of my passengers, including me, have felt sick even after short trips. You really do feel every bump even on 'smooth' roads. The window washer container has now developed a leak. The gear ratio is set far too high in auto mode, to the point that I have to put my foot down to encourage it to change down gear. When the turbo kicks in with this car you better make sure no one, and I mean no one is near the front of the car as it rockets the car without notice. Another point I have noticed is the paint work in very very thin indeed - looks like a 2 coat job - you can even see the stripes of the the paint on the side!!!

I've just bought a silver one and I too think the paint looks thin on the side. Only seems to affect the silver as the red, black, and grey ones all look better finished. I bought the 1.6 sport (smaller engine, same chassis) and yes the ride is firm, but my previous car was a Picanto which had very choppy suspension so the Leon is a Limo in comparison. Despite all that, you have to admit it's a great looker!

"a sheep in wolves clothing" in other words you are saying it looks fast, but is slow, I think you meant that the other way round.

Firstly I would like to submit that I'm not even sure that you own a Seat Leon?

Seat DO NOT make a Stylance Sport edition, they are two separate models. How can you not even no the spec of your own car or which model you purchased?

Also surly you test drove the car and you must have driven it before you wrote your first review were you positively raved about the car.

Did the car suddenly become really responsive?

Did the ratio on the gears suddenly become to long?

Did the suspension become too hard overnight?

I don't think so!

I DO own a Seat Leon FR 170 TDI. It is fantastic, the dash is put together with the precision of a VW and has no rattles. Yes the suspension is hard, but it didn't happen overnight it is inherent with buying a sports model and finally yes the engine is powerful, but I did buy the 2.0 TDI 170 not the 1.9 TDI 105 for this reason.

The Leon is a fantastic car for relatively low money compare to its rivals.

There is a 2.0TDi Stylance Sport, I own one. Differences are larger alloy wheels, sports interior, mp3 Cd player and aux and a few other things.
