My boyfriend got a 1997 red Chrysler Sebring LXi and the thing had door paneling off and the tire flat, either cracked head or blowed head gasket, oil leaks, front totaled, radio lights flicker and driver's side window doesn't stay up.
We are going to see if we can get it fixed, hopefully the car isn't worth more trying to fix than what my boyfriend bought it for! ($700)
This isn't much of a review as it is just a complaint about nothing to do with the car, just bought it from someone who treated it badly.
Yeah... it's Chrysler's fault the tire was flat and the front end was totaled.
You review isn't really helping anyone decide about buying or not buying a Sebring, since you're ranting about faults specific to your car. There are a couple of things on your list that should be holding up better than they are, but most of the stuff you mentioned can easily be attributed too bad maintenance by the previous owner, like the previous poster said.
I think you might have found all of these problems on any 11-year old, used car. Somebody really trashed this poor thing, not only by treating it badly, but by apparently wrecking it. I don't know if your boyfriend got suckered by somebody who made this out to be better than it was, or if he thought he could fix it up cheap.
There are good 10-year old cars to be had, but a person has to know enough about cars and mechanics to get a good one, and know when to walk away from the clunkers. $700 sounds like a lot to pay for something that was wrecked and has a blown engine. I know people who could have gotten the same model car, but in good running shape, for $300.
