1994 Renault 19 RT from Australia and New Zealand - Comments

13th Sep 1998, 00:00

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The gas leaked out of the airconditioning - regasing cost $180.00AU!

Front foglamps seem to mysteriously eat globes - 2 sets in 12 months.

General comments?

Very comfortable car, offering very good performance (I went from a Holden Barina (Opel/Vauxhaul Corsa) to this car) I bought it for $AU14,000 - very cheap for a car with power windows, air con, sunroof, remote locking, etc - it had only done 30,000 km in 3 years since new. However, with Renault no longer represented in Australia, the dealer has said "no more" to servicing, it could become problematical. However, Renaults are rare on Aussie roads, so even though it's a 4 year old car, it still turns heads.

Hi,

I'm moving from the UK to Oz at the start of Jan 2001. I'm thinking of shipping my Renault 19 Convertible. Would you recommend shipping a Renault 19 into Oz. Can you get parts etc?

Many Thanks,

I would recommend it, but even though Renault are back in Australia with a huge lineup of cars the 19 is still having problems with poor resale value...

A convertible might be an interesting site in OZ..
