1995 Geo Metro from North America - Comments

"A piece of crap!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The car is a piece of junk!!!! It has absolutely no power. I had the car break down on me during the winter season and when it rains. It has to be perfect conditions for the car to run halfway decent. The door has fallen and after 10,000 miles it was in need of a tune up already.

General comments?

These cars SUCK!!!!!! And they are the ugliest cars I have ever seen!!!!

I think you might be stretching the truth considering no one else has those problems.... Ugly? I guess you've never seen the Saturn cars have you?

These "little" cars are not designed to be first on race day. They are for economical transportation. Beat them around and they will probably let you down. Treat them like they are saving you money and they will perform. I love mine and everyone I have spoken with that owns one says the same thing. When the gas gets to 3.50 per gallon and everyone is unloading their tanks guess what a Geo will be worth? Better buy a new one now because you won't be able to get one at all soon. There will be such a demand for the gas mileage. Think gas won't get that high? It went from 1.18 2 weeks ago to 1.59 today. It went up 10 cents in one day. All those SUV's and Explorers, Blazers and Tundra's will soon be sitting in front yards with For Sale signs in the windows because no one will be able to put $105.00 worth of gas into the tank that holds 30 gallons and costs $3.50 per gallon. Think about that!!!

You know what, they are da bomb!!! I love mine. Mine is a 1992, only paid $800, takes only $10 or $13 to fill the tank, and the gas mileage is great. Sure it has little power, but would you rather have power or money?

I don't know about you but that little car can get out of a lot of crap. Illinois can have some really crappy weather and it hasn't let my family down yet. When all the other cars were stuck this one was still on the road.

It has pretty good acceleration for the type of car and it takes the corners very well for rack and pinion steering.

I don't know what you're talking about, my 1995 Metro is the nicest car I have ever had. It gets me around 36 miles per gallon, which goes without saying that 36 miles per gallon leaves me with a nice hunk of change left in my pocket. But, hey, what do I know, I'm only 17 years old. And for power, this car has some kick. I dropped a new transmition and a cold air intake and now I can beat most of my friends in the quarter mile. This cars are nice to soupe up and easy to find parts for. So if you ask me I feel this car is one that shouldn't be trashed.

Well I have to say that you've put some pretty harsh comments on you review. I'm 16 years old and even I think this has got to be the best car on the road. I thought the crash test rating would be bad, it got a 4 star and driver and passenger.

I've got a 95 Metro Hatchback. I sometimes like to get a little racey and get up off the line per-say. It does just fine. It might not have "power", but it works just fine for me.

It sounds like you're probably a young person like myself. I can tell you right now that money is a lot better than "power". Next time you ought to think about what you're saying. And I've got all the other comments to back me up.

Thanks for your time.

I was struck from the rear. The under designed front seat gave way and I broke 3 ribs and several discs were herniated in the wreck. If the front seat had been stronger, I would not have incurred near the same injuries.

Yeah, the Metro is a great car, I have a 96 with over 310,000 miles on it, that's right 310,000 miles. This car has given me no problems except for your regular repairs and it's still going strong.

Wow, a comment on the 13th Jan 2001 was predicting gas at 3.50 a gallon and Metros in high demand. Nostradamus, is that you?

Geo Metros are great (I was lucky enough to buy one just before the gas crisis), but good luck finding one that isn't rusted out or in horrible shape. The people who have Metros in good condition are keeping them, leaving only the scammers to try and pawn off some piece of junk that should be sitting in a salvage yard.
