Wheel bearing at 89,000 miles. door trim on drivers door.
I love this car, I've been driving it for all these years and when I drive other newer cars I wonder why few can compair. It does everything I need. In the snow it goes unlike any car I've owned. My BMW was worthless in bad weather, the A4 blows it away in every respect. I changed my timing belt myself, about to do it a second time. The water pump too.
I've owned the bmw 3 series (e36) and the audi a4 (b5). The audi a4's interior, stereo, seats, and cabin just feels more comfortable. There are more creature comforts that you just don't get with the e36 bmw i.e. phatbox, digital radio, ergonomics are better. You are right about the a4 being solid in the snow. However, with that said audis do not match the driving experience of a bmw when pushed hard. (with mods lowered springs, chipped) it's a sedan that feels like a porsche. Plus bmws tend to accellerate faster than audis and they tend to have less mechanical problems compared to audis. Which one to pick? If you had both, best of both worlds. I suggest you know an independent mechanic for both cars.
