OK..so I thought I was the only one with such a problem with my Nissan.. but finding this site has assured me not!! I have only had my Nissan Altima 3.5SE for just a year now and what a headache! It started with the service engine light on after only a few months of having it.. I had it read on one of these wonderful new computers and it read off 2 codes as the issue. Hmm.. both dealing with the camshaft sensor.. wonderful I thought.. not really, but OK... so I've taken care of this car since day one... regular oil change the works... now I bring it in to the service dept.. hmm they say nothing shows up on computer and there isn't anything they can do... hey if the light is back on they say bring it back in.. hahaha after you charged me $90.00 to LOOK at it and say it is nothing!! so very aggravated I come home... do some research of my own and wow theres a RECALL from 2003 on my vehicle and no kidding description matches my issue 100%..engine running not right.. loud noises..hesitation..oh its so the camshaft sensors. so I call the # provided.. yes she says it sounds like the problem.. and even though this is a pre-owned and the recall has been closed I should be able to contact dealer and have fixed because there is no way of knowing that previous owner actually took care of the recall... so it's been a month gone by since my call and the service dept insists there is no recall and for $90.00 they'll take a look at it... so I get into the look at it description they gave me last time and how I spoke to head Nissan Co. and was adviced to have the issue fixed under recall again he say well no recall for your car, but you can make an apt... NO.. so I call Head # back and still wait for Regional Specialist to look it over and phone me... mean time my car stall's and won't start when it feels like it.. and drives like crap. Like another commentor I to have had a smell coming in my car with the heat on so I to close the vents and try not to use, but haven't had this checked due to such none help with the other issue's this car has.
I have really been so disappointed in a Company. The service Dept has been the worst. I don't think I could imagine myself purchasing another vehicle from this dealership again... Customer service is not a priority to them or your safety driving in one of they're vehicle's...WHAT a SHAME.
I think we should all come together and file a Class Action Law Suit against Nissan Corp of North America. This is a major problem and Nissan is well aware as is the Nissan Dealershps that sell them!!!
