What things have gone wrong with the car?

There's a major problem with my proton savvy AMT. It tends to slide down once I release the brakes during a slope even when the transmition is in D (drive). I find it very dangerous because it even happens even if the slope is not steep. I'm very curious that I have asked and never heard of any savvy AMT owners has ever encounter this problem before. I have sent the car to EON service center for 3 times and the problem still remains. The machanics said everything is normal and nothing can be done. I have tried calling proton customer care centre, but they say it's the "characteristic" of the car. I find it really SCARY and I feel that it endangers my life and even those of my pessangers. Any commets about it. I'm really in need in help because I have abandon the car for several weeks due to this problem.

I have a Misubishi Colt with what they call "Automated Manual transmission", which does the same. It's easy to overcome - just time the parking brake release with putting revs on to move off. Most automatics will roll back on a steep hill if you let them.

It is very difficult to use the parking break to solve the problem. This is because during a traffic jam and you are on the slope, it's difficult to keep pulling it before you move forward. For a manual car it's OK because we can play with the clutch, but for the AMT, nothing can be done.

Try to do it this way : Put on 1 gear /D gear during slope. Release it and you will notice the car did move backwards, but in a second you will see the car either stationed or slowly moving forward (without touching an accelerator.

Savvy AMT is using manual gearbox equip with AMT version. It will slide backwards a bit or slightly jerk. Other Car equip with this Robotics transmission will facing the same matter.

I am driving a Savvy 2007 (black color). It is seriously so far so good; no problem at all! A trouble-free car. I would recommend this car to others for its fuel saving and handling.

Hi,

I've bought Savvy AMT in May 2006. Till now everything is fine. Really love this car. Send for service every 5k. Except for the jerking problem otherwise it's OK.

Jerking is normal for semi automated transmission. It is due to a single clutch system.

Dual clutch system is much better, but this latest technologies will cost more and not suitable for Savvy as the price will be expensive for a small car.

Must practise and get use of AMT transmission engine, no problem to use Savvy (1.2L AMT). I heard Savvy car development not the same process as Proton Tiara. Savvy engine and coolant system has designed accordance to whole year summer weather with high humidity.

I'm considering to have a Proton Savvy.

Expect to use it over 4 to 5 years.

Is that possible?

Can any 2005 or 2006 savvy car owner talk about their car condition now?

Let me have a preparation.

Please... Thank you,

No problems with my 2005 Savvy MT which was among the earliest badge.

Just that the engine is very dirty. Afraid to wash it as modern cars are more sensitive with more sensors and electronics he he.

Please don't worried to keept engine clean by washing.

To wash Proton Savvy engine, the Renault & Proton service center did provide service.

My Savvy already being used for 3 years, I had maintain engine clean as possible. Thanks.

To owners.

Proton is recalling it's Savvy over possible with regards to the car's rear-wheel bearings. Water could get into bearings, which would lead to a malfunction.

Kindly get it done now and Proton would conduct the necessary checks and replacements at no cost to the customer.

I am glad Proton do care about customers. This primary advance recall shows their primary concern about safety and satisfaction of their customers.

Take note, there is no problem in Savvy, it is just a precautionary safety measure. Just like BMW X5 earlier model was recalled due to safety pin on the brake pedal.

I bought Savvy last year when we need a second car as my wife was accepted into master degree (we own a toyota vios). SO far my savvy has not given me any major problem except the power window which brokedown only after 3 months in use. In term of fuel consumption, I think my vios (vvt-i engine) does better. Other thing is wind noise which could be quite deafening if you are travelling > 100km/hr. But this can be overcome with good audio system which Orion provides.

Overall it is good car for daily travel (to and fro workplace). for long distance I still prefer my vios. Good value for your money especially for a family with medium income like me.

I am a disappointed MT savvy owner. why? because I have had reverse gear problem and 2 breakdowns within 5 hours of getting my brand new savvy and I doubt this is the end of my problem (s). such is my faith with the national manufacturer. and now my savvy is sitting at the workshop.

And the joke of the year is that proton is busy recalling all the savvy on the road to replace the rear bearing when my 5 hour old savvy's rear bearing problem has not been rectified. reason? no stock la.
