""Volvo For Life" is reality for me"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

When picking up your car you must check for chipped paint don't be so excited to leave lot right away I was and noticed chipped paint along the front and back of the car, a helper at the dealership did a touch up with paint. but a week later now that I'm writing this a have notice the paint and windsheild glass is very weak and prone to very annoying chips in the paint and front windshield glass. iv'e been driving a 1995 Volvo 940 for the past 6 years, the paint and windows on that car was much stronger these issues with the 2006 S40 were very unexpected.

General comments?

This is truly a Great Car!,unbelievable braking power, I had to get used to the shoulder checks because blind spots are easy to come by at night if you have the right head rest on the back seat up. Acceleration is amazing and wheels will spin if you apply your foot too quikly. The styling of my 2006 S40 inside and out is a real breakthrough for Volvo.

I wrote this review after 5 months of owning my 2006 Silver Volvo S40.

My complaint was the paint on the car is much prone to paint chipping on the front fender and hood from tiny rocks and debris, compared to my other Volvo a 1995 / 940.

Well I'm writing to "CORRECT MYSELF" in which I never really closely looked at my 1995/940 that I've been driving for 7 years now / and when I did look at the OLDER Volvo there are many paint chips along the hood (much larger chips). I guess owing the New S40 made me take a closer look because of such an exciting new style and sleek look of it.

I have a TIP of using touch up paint from the dealership use a ANNABELLE MAKEUP Pro Lip Brush and use the tip of that to absorb little amounts of paint to make finer fill ins of paint into the chip / and use soft kleenex to remove unwanted paint, it must be done in about less than 5 seconds because the paint dries faster on the hood and it won't be removable anymore. USE Alcohol to clean area before applying paint and to clean the makeup brush also.

At the Volvo dealerships, when you service your vehicle, they will use some kind of WASH/WAX to make the car look better, just like the first day you picked up your new car.

I'm writing again to say it's better to read the car's manual. There are complete details on how to do touch ups, and one thing I didn't mention before that is in the manual, is to use masking tape around the chip to prevent unwanted smears of paint.
