2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP comp G from North America - Comments

"A flying lemon.."

What things have gone wrong with the car?

It ran good for 6 months, but then the cross member, a speed sensor, and it had a recall for the electronic throttle system.

At 55k the tranny went out.

Other than that, the car has served me well...

General comments?

This car has a lot of power. I have done some mods to it; 3 inch exhaust with headers, pulley kit, cold air intake, front mounted intercooler, stage 2 ECU.

The car is great with power, but the American car image keeps it low key.

The resale value drops like a rock, and American reliability are bad lows for this car.

My first car was a 1994 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 with the 5.7 V8, and it handled better and got better mpg. But to make a long story short, it got wrecked due to the RWD and ice on the freeway.

I don't think I'd buy another American car again.

I'm not sure why you are complaining about a blown transmission when you modified your car beyond its limits. I'm impressed that you got 55k miles out of your transmission with the upgraded pulley and ECU on the supercharger. You bought a performance sedan, not an all out sports car like your last vehicle. A rebuilt tranny should not cost you more than a thousands dollars (not installed). If you want to go fast, you have to pay to play. Good luck.

My previous car was an 98' Acura Integra GSR. It had a stage 2 turbo kit, front mount ecu, 1000 cc injectors, cold air intake, 2.5 exhaust with header, vtec controler, and Centerforce 3 disc clutch...

All of these mods were done on stock internals at 69K miles, and it still had bulletproof Honda reliability... I drove the car for 5 years and put 80K on it without a single problem...
