This car continues to be reliable, steady transportation and is fun to drive.
I rolled over 200,000 miles driving from Seattle/Tacoma area to El Paso, Texas and back.
I wouldn't be afraid to take it on the same drive again, and probably will.
I want to see if I can make 300,000+ with it.
I grew up with an 85' Camry that my mom owned forever. We put well over 250,000 miles on it before we sold it. It was really ahead of it's time too. I remember even as a kid thinking that most of the domestic cars my friend's families owned looked seriously outdated and resembled plastic garbage cans in the interiors. This Camry had sun roof, power mirrors, power antennae, power seats, a lumbar support, a stereo with a graphic equalizer that had a bank of lights that kept beat to the sound, overdrive, electronic fuel injection, and a heck of a nice engine. We even used it to haul our small camper for years.
I kind of wonder if it is still out there because even though we sold it in the mid 90's, it still looked brand-spanking new and even the paint still looked shiny. I sort of wish the new Camrys had as much 'cool factor' as the old ones.
