"Too expensive local car"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Pick-up slow mortion.

General comments?

Residents Malaysia.

I am now own this car 1.3EZ, not bad car. but... refer to below comments;

1. The MyVi too expensive as compare to lower cc engine group. Before you have own it, you may think value money for buying. After you have it for few months, you may feel too expensive to buying MyVi.

2. Engine develop with high consumption petrol, 17 cent / KM with only 1300cc.

3. Interior with low grade material, if you park outdoor for 300 days, the material start to degraded.

4. Drive comfortable and seat comfortable not comfort enough as compare to Kia and Proton Saga (1.3L).

5. The Proton Savvy body hardness better than MyVi.

6. The Proton Savvy are qualify by TUV, crash test result even better as compare to MyVi.

7. The MyVi 1.3EZ, (On the road SALE price RM$46,+++.00, without installation of ABS, EDB & Airbag), so expensive price, but didn't have safety install for end user.

8. Nissan Santra 1.6L, the production and material cost only USD$10,000.00 to make the car. As for Myvi, make in Local (Malaysia), how much cost they will spend for MyVi, if you are think carefully, the MyVi profit margin for Perodua is pretty much.

9. If the Perodua never think about sale cost reduction by year 2008, very soo they won't be getting good business, because their car too expensive as local make.

I post this comments is to help Malaysia people's understand better before they choose the new car.

However, I won't be selling my car (MyVi), My wife temporary use in taman drive, for my kids school usage. BUT I also won't choose Perodua car in future, Better choosing Kia or HYUDAI & PROTON.

AGREED, Fully support... Too expensive local car Perodua MyVi.

The Proton Savvy adjusted reasonable price as compare to MyVi.

There is proof by TUV & Sirim, the Savvy was certifying WORLD class standard for small displacement vehicle.

The body hardness very STRONG as compare.

The petrol consumption most efficiency as compare.

Proton Savvy is GREEN car as compare.

Take your time think wise before purchase.

Decision still belong to your own.

To be frank, Perodua MyVi is the one no value for money to buy it. WORST CAR & WORST PRICE.

New SAGA from Proton even much better than Perodua all types of car. Sorry, I have to share here.

In the UK it is a bargain - may be down to the exchange rate and price of the competition.

In the UK Proton is mostly avoided as it is known an awful brand, Perodua is totally unknown and is being likened to Daihatsu which is very well respected for reliability and design. So in UK it becomes Proton v Daihatsu...

Looking at the interior quality of the Proton and Perodua, the Proton has awful shiny plastics, the Perodua has more contemporary (even if cheap) plastic and better fabrics.

I had agreed what has been commented and posted on 11th Jan 2008, 06:52.

The Perodua too expensive price is the topic discussion in Malaysia usage and standard as compare to Proton.

In UK, the Daihatsu fully import from Japan, not make by Perodua Malaysia.

When people's brought out UK concern, we are not really buyoff those idea. Because it is out of discussion topic.

I believe, no company will willing damage their own brand, I think Perodua, Proton & Kia also not.

The only concern is price not comparable each other, the Perodua MyVi, ViVa is really very expensive car in Malaysia as local made.

While launching Proton new SAGA 1.3L (design by Korea company, base platform are used Proton Savvy). Many people's feedback, Perodua will lose all business very soon if they never adjust their sale price.

I have no idea what is happening in your local market, but in UK the Myvi is discounted by £1000 to £6799 including the metallic paint, which is a great deal.

In UK the motoring press has just discovered the Perodua brand-this month the Myvi is featured in Auto Express, Autocar and What Car, and given a positive report each time.

Compare the Myvi ratings to any Proton product in the UK and it is clear that Perodua is regarded as far superior.

Daihatsu imports the Sirion (Boon) into UK and this is what the UK press compare the Myvi to; being nearly as good as the Sirion, but much cheaper, especially with the discount and free metallic paint.

I just heard the Perodua MyVi body very soft. This incident happen in Malaysia. I think Perodua MyVi material use is low cost grade, maybe next time people's no dare to purchase MyVi.

-Proton Savvy (AMT, 1.2L) only price at RM$37,000.00

-Perodua MyVi (AM, 1.3L) price at RM$47,000.00.

The below comment from some other;

************************

"That's great Savvy in Malaysia, Why gave commented?

I am saw quite serious accident in Muar, Johor, (Proton Savvy, Perodua MyVi & Motorcycle).

The MyVi back side and rear door really gone (worst condition), but I saw Savvy nothing was happen (only front fog lamp and bumper damage and slight dented on engine cover).

Unbelievable!!!

This icident really lets me have a better trust the Proton Savvy body hardness really perfect and strong. Even the Savvy is smaller, but... the body really got power.""

The Myvi is designed with the same body as the Daihatsu Sirion which achieved the 4 star NCAP crash safety rating.

The Savvy has not been tested in the UK, but other Proton products have not done well.

The extensive deformation is due to the crumple zones, designed to deform easily and dissipate energy to prevent injury to the occupants. This is how a little Peugeot 1007 can be safer than a Volvo 240 (tank).

I have no worries about the safety of the Myvi.

SUPPRISE, Perodua MyVi can pass crash test as 4 star...

Who mention MyVi getting 4 star crash test, it is really no knowlegde of the car to share this type of information. Anyhow share information. Really bad.

The whole world people's know;

1. Proton Waja getting 3 star crash test, this is because Waja didn't install air bag.

2. Proton Savvy certify by "TUV" standard and requirement.

People mention 'TUV' standard and requirement, I think the whole world people's are very well know Proton Savvy are qualify in which country.

My advice; Here is to share the truth information and not to support who company brand or personal benefit.

I suppose that the only fair way would be to crash test all models in question in the same test, EuroNCAP.

I was fully trust Proton will improve their overall new model car development before launch into market.

If not wrong, there were already had two model (Savvy and Persona) proof in market, there were minimum quality encountered by end user.

The concept of new group of Proton top management are totally different as compare to past.

I believe they are very concern of New model launch with good quality, outlook & performance.

The new Proton Saga 1/3L (campro engine) really can feel the BEST price in the market, I think this is a proof from Proton (Nation car).

I am not support who brand is best, I am only sharing the real feeling today to Proton.

I think now they (Proton) already wake-up from sleep, they already realize now day, Proton has been survive in the world of 22 yrs. Definitely need to do something better and best to continue sustain Proton brand.

I heard a lot of people's feedback, even Porodua sale staff also said, the New Saga really best price as compare to Myvi.

Funny word I heard from Porodua sale staff, they want to switching to Proton sale staff very soon.

Savvy had no second hand value... that why people buy Myvi.

Before this proton is not cheap. After Myvi take over the market the proton keep dropping price so to secure back their market. It long way to go.

As I know both them using the cheap part. I own a Myvi, but it was a very low fuel consumption. about 100KM for 5-6litre. I was dring around 80-90km/h. I dunno why some said very high consumption, properly they are driving 110km/h or above..

Before this, proton car was very expensive. a 1.3satria cos min RM43k (1997). You can imaging how much proton made.

If for me to choose, I will wait for perodua car dropping first. instead choosing the proton. Cause the proton car material is not a good material also. when you press the door panel, the panel will smash in by a bit of power.

Same is Myvi.

But the engine design of Myvi - thumb up!!

Please continue your support to Perodua, we won't stop you to support them. This is your own risk.

If I understand from Savvy review page, the Savvy situation are not same as Proton Tiara, but many people's think Savvy will be same as Tiara outcome. Actually, this is wrong concept thinking for many people's in Malaysia.

My wife own Proton Savvy, she very happy use Savvy for 3yrs. Nothing problem have.

Bare in mind, the car age for 10 years, the trend in value to government only can get RM$5000, as for trend in to second hand dealer will get even worst value.

This is what Malaysia Government will be implement soon. If government won't control using this method, the Malaysia will become hourly traffic jam in future.

Please prepare to accept this situation car market value.

I feel perodua myvi is a much safer car. even though the body is crumpled easily. if were in a crash. the car will absorb most of the impact and it will lessen the risk of serious injuries for its passengers. where else for the savvy, the body is hard and there is minimum crumple zone for the energy to go. there for resulting serious injuries for its passengers. and to me myvi has a better engine then the savvy. and recently 34,000 savvy has been called back from some problem with its rear suspension. it will cost a lot of time for its drivers. so. don't run down myvi cause of its so called soft body. pls understand the science behind this.
