This car has been pretty reliable, it has never broke down, and that's saying a lot cause I drive it very hard.
I have never had any major problems, the horn is the only thing that has broken but it started working again, and the leather seats have worn a little on the edges.
This car is extremly fast, if you want a sporty car, this is a good choice, this car handles like no other, it is amazing.
My car can eat up any Mustang there is, any, and any 4 cylinder that I've seen.
This car is purely for fun though, there is very little back seating, it can only seat 2 comfortably.
If it can beat any mustang, I'd like to see it run against my buddy's Mustang SVT Cobra R.
My '93 TSi AWD beat a SALEEN Mustang.
To all the Mustang SVT Cobra R drivers - it doesn't matter how much HP your gas guzzlers make - nothing beats All-Wheel Drive! I also don't hear any Mustang drivers bragging about how unbelievable their car handles.
Wow, I like Mustangs but I was looking into these cars and I know AWD owns plus some Mustangs are too heavy like the Saleens... Talon all the way.
First off, the talon will out corner a mustang cobra anyday, also in handling. You can do more things with the talon than you can with the mustang because it has a turbocharged engine. Mustang cobra does 0-60 in 5.5 seconds when the talon does 0-60 in 6.5 but a talon can be modified easy to go a lot faster.
My dad used to have a 92' twin turbo talon, it could get up to 130 and back down enough to turn in my drive in a quarter mile. I really doubt a mustang can compete with that.
If you Talon owners think you can out run a 98 SVT Mustang and live near Nashville e-mail me at cobra3658@aol.com and I will be glad to show you that you can't. Mmy girlfriend has a 95 TSI and I love the way it handles. The car drives like a go-kart. If it was my car it would be able to blow the doors off of my Cobra in less then a month.
Alright, a Cobra R Mustang is way different then when someone says a Mustang. How many Cobra R's do you really see. So think average cars that you see on the road. Oh yeah, and for the record, I do like all kinds of cars, but when it comes down to the fastest street cars (legal), nothing beats V8's. All I have to say is Tony Christian. And if you want to get non-legal, just watch the pros on TV. Top fuel and funny car. I hate it when people do not know their cars.

I have to call CRAP on this one and for one reason: "You can do more things with the talon than you can with the mustang because it has a turbocharged engine." I don't know where you get your crack but it's some pretty good stuff.
With the turbo, you can add 5 psi and add like 50 horsepower. And that is for only $200 for a boost controllr and blow off valve.
OK.. Let's get a few things straight. AWD is great off the line and yes, will beat any Mustang (mostly because Mustangs are junk and can't compete with REAL muscle cars like the Trans Am and Camaro), but anyway, once your AWD hits second gear, all it's doing is slowing you down. Gotta have the RWD to get that good top end acceleration. Cornering? Who cares? Talons are OK for getting groceries, but come on, the AWD ones are junk after 60mph because my V8 Thunderbird blows by them all the time on the highway.
Talons can be made quite fast quite easily

For some videos, he actually has an 11.2 run, but not a video yet. Go for it Firebird boy.
If an all wheel drive talon is junk after 60 mph, and a thunderbird will blow by them with such ease, let us remember that a Talon TSI AWD 0-100 time is 16.5 seconds, while a Thunderbird Supercoupe 0-100 is 20.8 and a V-8 thunderbird 0-100 is 17.5 seconds. Of course these figures are for stock vehicles, each would respond differently to modification & tuning. However I drive a Talon TSI AWD and the only people I have to be careful of are new Trans Am/Camaro/Firebirds with V-8 and 5 or 6 speed manuals, Cobra Mustangs, and Corvettes.
Beware a '98 Cobra.. it pulls 1.03g, standing quarter less than 11 seconds... cost less than any rice burner out there... my 60ft times are 1.43.
I'm just a car lover and tuner in general so my opinion is quite unbiased. As for "You can't do anything to a Mustang." That comment is dead wrong and as a matter of fact can be tuned to exceed 1.00g's on the skidpad with just springs and new LCA's. (A good example is the Rouch Mustang 0.99g's with those 2 upgrades) Not to mention there are other companies like Kenny Brown, Steeda and Griggs who make professional BOLT on independent suspension systems. The Mustang is a heavy car though and is much more difficult to drive at the limits especially when making those hard corners even though they can handle them with the right mods whereas the talon is easier to tune and drive. Granted the talon also has aftermarket suspension systems like the Progress one that seems to have a lot of potential.
Also you can't DO MORE to either engine although driving both cars I can tell you that neither gets better gas mileage than the other. Driving either hard will result in an empty tank fast and both cars seem to drive at about 20 mpg. As for total upgradable power the Cobra has about 380 naturally aspirated power in it with the right upgrades and the GT 300hp. Not to mention you can buy bolt on turbo and supercharger systems for the car easily. The stock talons from 91-94 I believe have the TD05-14b's which are probably the best turbos those cars have ever had. Not too sure, but those turbos can probably get the car to 300-320 hp at 20psi seeing as though cfm doesn't go up at about 18psi. Remember also that doing that is dangerous with a boost controller without other mods to the fuel system. I've seem all to often people thinking they can up the boost without doing anything else. Both car have potential and are capable of driving hard and fast. It's just a matter of preference. If you want to get real technical though, parts for the Mustang = cheaper and the fastest Mustang is faster than the fastest Talon. Bottom line is.. it's all a money game and the person with the most usually wins.
