My IS has been in the shop 5 times for a total of 7 squeaks and rattles. Very disappointed with the interior quality and having spent $38,000 for a car that ALWAYS has a rattle. Lexus rep Larry Lamberson told me that the rattles were normal and to deal with the "noise".
Lexus is having a lot of complaints regarding rattles and not being able to fix them because they will not "tear" into a car to fix a "noise" issue.
Both air vent rattle
rattles in the doors
rattle behind the rear seats
the thin plastic around the Nav/GPS pops and squeaks when ambient temperatures are 75F plus.
Moon roof rattles
rattle in middle of dash.
The president of Toyota and a Toyoda family representative, bowed in public and apologized for poor quality. Toyota has also been investigated for hiding recalls in the past, no wonder the record "looked" great. when this happens, don't defend toyota, they are no better, in fact they are worse than any other company because of their blatant, proven dishonesty!
I am not sure what this reviewer is talking about. I have the IS and have had no rattles at all. If anything Lexus have been known to have the least rattles compared to any other vehicles. My friend has an 02 IS300, and it still has no rattles at all.
We bought our 2006 IS250 AWD and we have had it 2 years with no rattles. It's been perfect.
I brought a new Lexus IS 250 and it is rattle city. I hate it and cannot wait to trade in the car. This will be my last Lexus.
I bought a 2007 IS 250 and I must say that I'm a little disappointed with the rattles; the dealership even dismantled the dash and re-seated the front windshield, but the rattles are still there, particularly around the nav screen. Other than that, I love the car....just have to crank up the music a little to take my mind off the rattles.
I work for a Toyota branch, a lot of new is250s Camrys and Aurions have dash rattles, 99% of the time it's just the little white clips that hold the dash in place. Easy to fix, just a pain to take the dash out :)
We currently have an IS250 AWD as a loaner while my wife's RX300 is being serviced. It has approximately 2500 miles on it and is rattle free.
The Lexus is certainly a superb little sedan.
The ride is on the firm side and there is a good deal of tire noise from the sporty tires. It is very well equipped and has excellent fit & finish for a $35,000 sedan.
I don't know if I would be comfortable on a long trip in an IS250 however, I prefer the seating comfort and quieter ride of my Saab, which is wonderful to drive on a long journey.
