Muffler blew out @ 90000mi., Fuel pump @ 102000mi., ignition coil @ 80000mi., and the head gasket @ 120000mi.
I got this car for $1000 when I was 16, it had no rust was kept clean, and from the original owner who happend to be an older person. The only reason it was being sold was because he had bought a new car and didn't need this one.
The car was amazing, smooth ride, more power than I expected from a 260, and always started no matter what.
It is a great first car, or a great car for anybody.
It is safe, handels well for the size, and very forgiving if you are to find yourself in a ditch.
There is no doubt in my mind that had I changed the head gasket insted of selling it for a newer car that the olds would still be on the road today.
Those Delta 88s were some of the best cars GM ever made. I never had one with a 260, just several 307s, but I've heard the 260s will outlast even the incredibly durable 307s. Transmissions are always the weak point.
