"Not impressed"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The front seat cushions kept coming off, had it in 5 times, and took it in on March 7th 2008 and so far so good.

Had it in for warranty work, had to replace the fuel injectors.

The tires on this car sucked, only lasted 40.000 km until I had to replace them, brutal.

I have got them to check the front end, I swear there is something wrong with it, I keep hearing a bang and clanking sound when going over bumps, but they keep telling me it's OK.

I have had problems with drivers side door; sometimes it does not close, they had to replace the gear shift control.

General comments?

It has a big rear end in it, when you turn your head to change lanes, you can't see very well out the back.

It's uncomfortable, not very good on gas.

And again, that thing with the front end. Hope when my extended warranty expires, it doesn't any worse

And all these people who have written comments and that have only had their cars for a couple of days, weeks, months, please, it's new, what is really going to go wrong with it. In all respect.

I can't believe people complain about gas mileage of little 4-bangers. Just relax, and be happy that you don't have to drive a V8.

Just wanted to comment on the person that said they weren't impressed and had problems with the front end of their car. I have a 2006 model and into it's first 5 months the steering column had to be replaced under warranty not once but four more times since I've had the car almost two years now. Apparently there's a defect in the steering that's covered under the warranty. Also another problem when the car is cold it hesitates until the motor is warm enough to perform smoothly from a stopped position, the dealership can't figure this one out. I consider it a serious safety issue if hauling out in fast moving traffic, the issue hasn't been fixed or can't be found. As well seat belts never wind up and get caught in the door frame when closing, a really problem, can't be fixed either. The car is great on gas, the one strong characteristic. I don't see myself keeping the car beyond the warranty period. Since having bought the car, may 2006, it's seen the shop on an average of 12 times for the two years. One last comment the cars weight distribution, mostly toward the front, makes the car handle extremely poorly in winter conditions with the back end of the car having a mind of it's own. Any slight amount of snow on the ground and driving over 50 becomes nerve recking, even with winter tires. The tires that came with the car were definitely not made for winter, i found that one out the hard way, an expensive lesson. I'd highly recommend buying winter tires.

The banging noise is your front control arm bushings I had mine replaced at 62000 km just out of warranty it is a common problem on all pursuit models.

I fully agree with your comments. I had the same banging noise in my 2006 Pursuit. The dealer said it was the steering column and they replaced it 4 times. They also replaced one strut and the noise is still there. I took it to a private, licenced mechanic and within 5 minutes said that the control arm bushings were gone. He put it on the hoist and "BINGO" there it was. He also said that they hade been gone for a very long time. Makes me wonder why the GM mechanic did not notice this one month ago. Soooooo... if you are having a problem with knocking noises in the front end and the dealers say it is the steering column, have them look at the control arm bushings. By the way, my warranty expired 16500 kms ago so I am paying to have this fixed myself. Makes you wonder if it could have been found before the warranty ran out eh?
