1985 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z from North America - Comments

"Will NEVER buy a Chrysler product again - Good looking poorly engineered junk, based on a K-car"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Automatic transmissions blew every 20 to 25 thousand miles.

Throttle position sensor went bad every 6 to 12 months.

Oxygen sensor went bad every 6 to 12 months.

Needed wheel alignments every 6 to 12 months.

Water pumps went bad every 6 to 12 months.

Radiator leaked and was replaced.

Huge fuel leak under hood.

Weld on drivers seat broke, had to replace entire seat.

Brake discs would warp.

Brake Calipers seized.

Clear coat on rims chipped off.

Plastic toothed power window track broke every other year.

Radio broke.

Sunroof leaked.

At 110K, loud bang under hood and engine died, I cut my loses and never fixed it.

General comments?

3 speed automatic transmission made it a dog.

Tons of turbo lag.

Lots of torque steer.

Lots of under-steer.

Looked good, but was not reliable and slow.

Crsyler probably lost money on this POS, but they hit me up for deductable for each transmission, which I think was $500 each time while it was still under warranty.

My mechanic made out well after the dealer warranty ended.

Convinced me to never buy or recommend a Chrysler product for the rest of my life. I can't believe they are still in business after making junk like this.

You mean to say that you disliked this car so much, yet you kept it 23 years?

Yes, it's outrageous that this 23-year-old car fell apart after being thrashed! Clearly Dodge should give you a brand new car as compensation. Oh, brother!

I had an 85 turbo z, bought it in 89 with only 38,000 on it... total junk...period!
