"I will never by another Ford again"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

In 5 years of driving this thing I had to replace the fuel pump twice, the power steering pump, sway bar, and the upper and lower control arm and this is all under 70,000 miles. I always take excellent care of all my cars I have own, I check the fluids and check for leaks and I check tires and tire pressure I never let the gas go below half and I service and change the oil every 3,000 miles on the dot. So these problems I had is unacceptable.

General comments?

For 30 years I had driven Fords and Mercurys and always had problems with every one I had. Then I had a Hyundai Santa Fe and now I have a Nissan Altima. I never had a problem with both those cars.

Well in all fairness fuel pumps can wear out; not to mention if you or your mechanic replaced it with a cheap aftermarket part it was bound to die again on you. Unless you flushed your power steering system you were bound to also have a failure there as well as at about 50,000miles it should be flushed and filled with synthetic fluids then you wouldn't have a problem (unless a line rotted out or something). It seems as though you like Ford products since you've driven/owned so many so they could not have been that bad to you over all. I'll admit Altimas are good cars and they do last (with proper maintanence) however they are very different that Explorers and I'm sure they are used/driven differently as well. So although it's not good you had problems with your Explorer please don't chalk it up to they are bad trucks because they aren't; they need to be looked after in all areas just like every other car and I find a lot people forget about that.
